Mental health problems are common in children and young people, and affect the whole family. In addition, a report published this month by the Children’s Commissioner highlighted that depending on where families live, there are substantial variation in terms of local funding dedicated to CAMHS services and barriers for families accessing services (click here to read the full report)
In order to improve access to families, CYPHP is working with partners to develop guidance and tools for GP and primary care professionals to support recognition, signposting, and appropriate specialist referrals. We are starting with:
- behavioural problems in children (primary school age)
- self-harming behaviour in adolescents
