One of CYPHP's priorities is to ensure staff who work with children and young people have the knowledge and skills to effectively deal with the health challenges faced by this age group. We know that transforming the workforce is key to ensuring we deliver the sustained improvements in care to which we all aspire. Education and training are key to developing the CYP health teams that are integral to delivering the new model of care.
Our needs assessment and engagement work suggested focusing on key professional groups who have strong relationships and/or frequent contact with young people. Our ambitious training programme will:
- address gaps in awareness of young people's mental health,
- provide health and non-health professionals with the knowledge and skills to enhance their existing work with children and young people, and
- increase opportunities for health promotion by working with children and young people with long-term conditions and their families.
